Good oats will be sown sometime, and one of the arts of life to sow them at the right time." ;)
Yet another sunday and yet another breakfast to be prepared, and what can be better than an upma, mind tosses here and there, semiya upma.. naah.. Garg is gonig to kill me, i cannot take advantage of him like this, last 4 times we have made upma has been semiya upma, rava, he is not too fond of, ok forgt it, what else, oats, he hates it, he says Jaun(oats) hai, woh to hum ghodon ko khilate hain :D, (we feed that to horses).
But nothing else comes to my mind other than oats now, so i finally decide on trying the oats upma, had always heard of it, the carton of quaker oats also provides a recipe to it, exactly the same way we make any upma, so finally i made it, and to my surprise it was a pleasant surprise, we really liked it and would love to have it again. So here goes the simple oats upma, i simply made it the way you would make any upma.

Ingredients:
1 cup Quaker Oats
1 big onion sliced
2 tbsp peas
2 green chillies slit lengthwise
2 dried red chillies
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp chana dal
1 tbsp urad dal
salt to taste
a pinch of heeng
2 cups water
6-7 curry leaves
4 tsp ghee
1 tsp ginger finely chopped
Method:
1. Roast the oats without oil in a pan without oil till it turns brown may b for 2-3 mins and keep aside.
2. Heat some ghee in a wok ans add the chana dal and urad dal, let then turn brownish, now add the green chillies and red chillies
3. Add sliced onions, ginger and curry leaves to it, and saute till the onions are tender. To this add the heeng and salt and peas
4. Add the water and let it come to a boil, to this add the roasted oats. Keep stirring till all the water evaporates and are cooked thoroughly, if you think water is less you can add some more.
5. Serve it hot with some coconut chutney or with some fresh yogurt.

So this is my lazy run to the marathon day 9 :) What the others have in store for you today :
Siri has some quick home fries.
Ranji has d ultimate combo Dal Makhani n jeera rice

Dhivya has her masala oil
